Q&A: What does the Automation Type in the Shape Defense Summary report mean?

Question

What does the Automation Type in the Shape Defense Summary report mean?

Environment

  • Silverline Shape Defense
    • Shape Defense Summary
  • Bot defense
  • Bot protection
  • Anti-bot

Answer

The "Automation Type" is provided by Shape on Malicious Inferences to identify a high-level category of the reasons for the Inference.

Automation Type

Definition

Token Missing

The UUID token Shape expects (in the headers or body) is not present.

Token Invalid

The UUID token Shape expects (in the headers or body) is not one that it recognizes.

Token Reuse

The UUID token appears a number of times that exceeds the rate limit threshold Shape enforces over UUID token occurrences.

Token Blacklisted

A denylisted (via Token_Reuse) UUID token is seen again.

Token Expired

When UUID token is more than 24 hours old then the value is Token Expired.

Payload Missing

Shape collects signals that the Threat Intelligence (TI) package leverages to flag for automation. These signals are then attached as part of a “payload” in the headers or the body. If that payload is not present, this flag is raised.

Payload Invalid

Shape can’t interpret the signal “payload”.

Payload Replay

Shape collects signals that the Threat Intelligence (TI) package leverages to flag for automation. These signals are then attached as part of a “pay-load” in the headers or the body. If that payload has been used previously, this flag is raised.

UUBID_Blacklisted

Shape sees the same combination of user fingerprint, browser fingerprint, and UUID token more than once.

Threat_Intelligence

Shape blocked transactions based on Threat Intelligence rules.
