Q&A: Shape Defense - Can I use a wildcard to protect my entire site instead of one URI?

Question

  • Can I use a wildcard to protect my entire site instead of one URI?
  • Can I define a global assignment to protect my entire site instead of just the URI

URIs are defined in the Protected Endpoints section of Shape Defense configuration. See How to Configure "Shape Defense" Option in Proxy/App Configuration

Environment

  • Silverline Shape Defense
  • Bot defense
  • Bot protection
  • Anti-bot

Answer

No. Customers may NOT enable a wildcard to protect all the endpoints for a given FQDN i.e. /*

  • Customers can leverage wildcards to protect multiple endpoints with one entry. i.e. /login/*
  • Customers should define specific endpoints to be more deterministic when applying protection to their applications. NOTE: Multiple endpoints are evaluated from top to bottom as shown on the portal.
