How does F5 Silverline route proxy traffic from clients?

Question

  • For example, a user around Asia accesses a website that is proxied on F5 Silverline, will they be routed randomly or will it be automatically routed to the Singapore data center?

Environment

  • Silverline WAF
  • Silverline DDoS
  • Proxy Services

Answer

  • Silverline leverages Anycast via our proxy address announcements to ensure that anyone connecting to a Silverline proxy is routed directly to the nearest of our global data centers.
  • If your proxy is not deployed to the nearest Silverline data center to your client, the traffic will first enter that site, then Silverline will route to the closest Silverline data center where your proxy is located
