Q&A: What's the maximum number of HTTP headers allowed in a WAF Policy?

Question

  • What's the maximum number of HTTP headers allowed on a WAF policy?

Environment

  • Silverline WAF
  • Proxy/Proxies
  • WAF policy/policies

Answer

  • Silverline has a default between 20 or 25 maximum allowed HTTP headers
    • If a request contains more than 20 or 25+ headers, then the WAF policy will trigger a violation
    • However, if you know that your application uses more than 20 or 25+ headers, we can increase the limit up to 150

Is there any downtime when increasing the HTTP header for a WAF proxy?

There is no downtime for increasing the maximum number of headers.
