How do I use / configure the Regional PoP (RPoP) in Silverline Proxies?

Description

  • Sydney, Australia
  • Hong Kong
  • Mumbai, India
  • Montreal, Canada
  • Sao Paulo, Brazil
  • Bahrain
  • Ohio, USA
  • Tokyo, Japan

Silverline customers want to use this Regional PoP in their proxy configurations to decrease latency for the clients closer to the Regional PoP locations.

How do I know if my account is enabled to use Regional PoPs?

In the Portal, navigate to Config > Proxy / App Configuration > Proxy / App Management

  • If you see "Proxy Configuration," you do NOT have access to Regional PoPs.
  • If you see "Proxy / App Configuration," you DO have access to Regional PoPs.

How do I use the Regional POP in my new proxy configurations?

Instructions are on the KB page Application Proxy (HTTP / HTTPS) Configuration under "Step 4: Configure Back End Server IPs or FQDNs." Note that Regional PoPs are only available to new application proxy deployments.

I don't have the Regional PoPs option enabled. How do I turn on this feature?

Open a ticket with the SOC and request access to the Regional PoP functionality.  They will review the best configuration for your account to enable Regional PoP functionality and configure it accordingly with you.

Note these significant changes once you have Regional PoPs enabled

  • Regional PoPs is only available with new proxies that you create; existing proxies cannot be migrated to utilize Regional PoPs.
  • Regional PoP locations only support HTTP/HTTPS based applications. In other words, they do not support TCP Only, UDP Only, or DNS type deployments. See Application Proxy (HTTP / HTTPS) Configuration.
  • WAF customers will no longer be able to create "classic" proxies with an Assigned IP. Once you migrate to the Application Proxy workflow with access to Regional PoPs, you will only be able to create HTTP / HTTPS Application Proxies.
  • DDoS Protection customers will follow the TCP / UDP / DNS Proxy Configuration workflow to create TCP / UDP / DNS proxies -- These proxy types do NOT have access to Regional PoPs
