Question
How is the traffic flow through Silverline infrastructure different with Regional PoPs?
Environment
- Silverline WAF
- Proxy/Proxies
- Regional PoPs
Answer
Regional PoPs introduce a change in behavior and traffic flow for customer applications.
- To enable Regional POPs to process traffic correctly for end-users, Silverline customers must configure their DNS correctly to point to the Silverline-provided CNAME / "Assigned DNS Name". -- See How do I use / configure the new Regional PoP in Silverline Proxies?
- This enables the Global Service Load Balancing (GSLB) technology within F5 Silverline to correctly steer end-user traffic to the optimal location based on their Local DNS server.
- The diagrams below compare the traffic flow without Regional PoPs (top image) and with Regional PoPs (bottom image).
