Q&A: Is the referrer header always passed through WAF?

Question

Is the referrer header always passed through WAF?

Environment

  • Silverline
  • DDoS
  • WAF

Answer

Yes, Silverline will never modify or change in any way HTTP structure of incoming request.

  • If there is anything suspicious or malicious about it, it will get blocked, however if it was allowed our infrastructure or any of our features will not make any modifications.
  • Exception in this case are iRules, if there are any deployed on proxy that do indeed perform such modifications.
