Q&A: Is there any limitation to the number of entries or size of data that could be put into a single iRule data table?

Question

  • Is there any limitation/constraints to the number of entries or size of data that could be put into a single iRule data table?

    • Can I add 1,000 entries to a data table?

Environment

  • Silverline
  • iRule
  • Data Table

Answer

  • Yes, there is a limit on the data table
    • It is based on the size of data; a single data table can support up to 50k bytes of data
      • As a workaround,
        • Entries can be increased on the data table (but if the data is more than 50k bytes of data, use the next available workaround)
        • A secondary data table can be created
          • The associated iRule can be modified/updated to reference one or more data tables to achieve the behavior/logic
