4. Add elements from the left-hand side to build the dashboard.

To add an element, mouse-over the desired Element and click. A pop-up appears to fill in with information.

  • Each element is a chart which shows specific information.
  • Not all of these elements may display for all customers, as they are subscription-dependent. For example, only DDoS Customers will see the DDoS Mitigations element.
  • See the next section (Element Descriptions) for more information on each element.

5. Fill in all of the information for the Element in the pop-up, and click "Add."

Important: Specify Data Sources

Most elements have a drop-down to select a data source. If you don't specify the data source, the element will source its data from all applicable objects (networks, proxies, etc).

To specify a specific object, simply click into the field.  In the case of this Element, one data source or all data sources may be specified:

In other Elements (such as those that source their data from Proxies), the ability to specify multiple sources is possible:

6. After adding element, you can resize, reorder, edit, or delete the elements on the Dashboard.

To Resize Elements: Place the mouse over the bottom-right of the Element. Drag the Element to the size required.

Element Descriptions

Each element is a chart which shows specific information. Elements are added in Step 5 in "Create New Custom Dashboard" above.

Element Name  Description  Subscription
GRE and VPLS Tunnel Bandwidth  DDoS customer typically connect their protected resources to Silverline through a GRE or VPLS tunnel.  This time-series chart shows the bandwidth consumed from the perspective of Silverline.  DDoS
Firewall Metrics  The DDoS service makes use of a front-end firewall prior to traffic being sent to the customer (through a tunnel) or through the Threat Mitigation System.  This chart, therefore, allows a customer to see the pre-scrubbed traffic rate as it arrives at the Silverline service.  DDoS
Proxy Metrics  Once traffic is scrubbed (or in the case of no attack, simply passed through), traffic can arrive at a Proxy (if so configured).  For WAF customers, traffic always arrives at a proxy.  This chart shows the amount of bandwidth that is being consumed at the point that it arrives at a proxy or collection of proxies (including all proxies if so configured).  DDos and WAF
DDoS Mitigations  DDoS customers can get insight into the kind of mitigations that Silverline places onto incoming traffic and the associated bad actors by using this Element.  The information comes straight from the Silverline Threat Mitigation System.  DDoS
Threat Intelligence Chart

Customers who have purchased Threat Intelligence get access to this Element which will display a time series of dropped or allowed connections which fell into one or more of 15 categories of IP reputation.

Note: Threat Intelligence is an additional cost feature. Talk to your Silverline Sales Specialist for more information.

Only subscribers with Threat Intelligence add-on
Network Charts / Network Bandwidth This provides a view into the bandwidth being consumed for all customer networks which are being routed through the Silverline network.  DDoS
Network Charts / Network Zone Pre-scrub Bandwidth This charts shows the amount of bandwidth being consumed as it enters the Siverline datacenters and is displayed showing each zone (a zone is a Silverline term for the geographical area a scrubbing center serves). DDoS
Network Charts / Network Zone Post-scrub Bandwidth This charts shows the amount of bandwidth being consumed as it leaves the Siverline datacenters to the customer site once scrubbing has been performed.  DDoS
Network Charts / Network Application Bandwidth This charts shows the amount of bandwidth being consumed for each application type that is being protected.  An application is classified based on its port, such as 80 and 443 for HTTP and HTTPS, or 53 for DNS.   DDoS
WAF Charts / WAF Violation Count by Policy Time series display of the number of violations observed for the time period specified, as it relates to the active policy names.  WAF

WAF Charts / WAF Violations Count by Violation Rating Time series display of the number of violations observed for the time period specified, broken out by WAF Violation Rating -- See What is WAF Violation Rating? WAF
WAF Charts / WAF Violations by Attack Vector Time series display of the number of violations observed for the time period specified, as it relates to the attack type of WAF violation, such as HTTP Parser attacks, Information Leakage, etc.  WAF
WAF Charts / WAF Geolocation Map  This displays the map of the world as a heatmap showing a color coded view according to the countries which host bad actors which violate policy the most.   WAF
